Banks takes job at Central Gwinnett

It didn’t take long for former Greene County football head coach Terrance Banks to find another job.Banks, who led the Tigers to a 24-10 record and three playoff appearances over the last three seasons, is now the head coach at Central Gwinnett.

Greene County football’s Steve Miller and Kevin Wynn will continue their careers at the Division I level.Last week, Miller and Wynn signed the dotted line during the first day of the NCAA’s Early Signing Period for football. A signing ceremony was held for them at the school on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Banks no longer head coach at Greene County

After three seasons, Terrance Banks is out as the head football coach at Greene County High School.Rumors surfaced on social media before Thanksgiving Break that Banks was no longer with the program, but on Dec. 2, the Lake Oconee News confirmed the news with GCHS athletic director Chad Smith.

Indians tame Tigers in first round

Last Saturday, Irwin County dominated Greene County in the first round of the Class A Division II state playoffs.The Indians entered the postseason contest as the lower seed in the 32-team bracket but a higher-ranked team and left Greensboro with a commanding 41-7 victory over the Tigers.

Tigers top Warren County to finish second in region

Greene County secured the No. 2 spot in the region standings last Friday with a 28-14 win over Warren County.However, the Tigers’ victory wasn’t easy. They used a late second-half surge to defeat the Screaming Devils.

Lincoln County secured the Class A Division II Region 8 championship last week with a win over Greene County. The No. 6 Red Devils defeated the No. 7 Tigers 43-20 behind a solid first-half performance and a strong finish.

Second-half surge sends Tigers past Titans

Greene County used a solid second-half effort to defeat crosstown rival Lake Oconee Academy 33-10 last Friday.With the score tied 7-7 at the half, the Tigers (7-1, 2-0) outscored the Titans (5-4, 0-3) 26-3 in the second half, overcoming a slow start and coasting to a crucial victory.
