Settlement with Meta would require new teen safeguards

An agreement to resolve a federal lawsuit brought by Georgia and other states and U.S. jurisdictions would require Meta to impose new limits on teen accounts on its social media platforms while giving parents more control over their children’s accounts.

A collision involving two tractor-trailers near mile marker 125 in Morgan County during the early morning hours of Sept. 1 caused major traffic delays for motorists traveling toward Atlanta on I-20 through Greene and Morgan counties.

GDC agent arrested for misuse of Flock

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Georgia Department of Corrections Special Agent in Charge Robert “Bobby” Keim, 45, of Eatonton, on a charge of misuse of a license plate reader system.The GDC asked the GBI to investigate on Aug. 18, according to a GBI notice.

Budget approved; Putnam BOC to seek solid waste bids

The Putnam County Board of Commissioners approved its fiscal 2027 budget and authorized rebidding the county’s solid waste contract. At its Aug. 18 meeting, it approved new oversight of SPLOST and T-SPLOST spending during its Aug. 18 meeting.

The University of Georgia women’s soccer team made history by hosting James Madison University on Aug. 20 on Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium. The Dawgs defeated the Dukes 6-0 and broke the NCAA Division I attendance records for both men’s and women’s regular-season soccer games.
