Greene County football’s Steve Miller and Kevin Wynn will continue their careers at the Division I level.
Last week, Miller and Wynn signed the dotted line during the first day of the NCAA’s Early Signing Period for football. A signing ceremony was held for them at the school on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Terrance Banks coached Miller and Wynn at Greene County for three years. Although Banks and the program recently parted ways, he recently spoke to the newspaper about his pride in them.
“I cannot put into words how proud I am of both of these young men,” Banks told the Lake Oconee News. “It is every child’s dream who plays football to sign with a major program. To see both of them achieve this brings me so much joy. The hard work on and off the field, in the weight room, and in the classroom has helped them reach this moment. I am excited to watch them in their futures.”
Miller, a two-way player and starter for the Tigers the past four years, is headed to play safety at USC.
Miller told Lake Oconee News that he is excited to head to Los Angeles to play for the Trojans.
“It was just really the bond I have with the coaches there [at USC]. The bond with them is awesome,” Miller said. “I feel like they have the best coaching staff [in the nation] right now. I just want to be a part of something that feels like family. When I went out there, they treated me and my family like we were already family. So, family goes a long way, and that’s why I stuck out it out with them.”
As a senior, Miller caught 47 passes for 644 yards and eight touchdowns. He also rushed for a touchdown. Defensively, Miller totaled 32 tackles and had a team-high seven interceptions in 2024.
According to the 247Sports composite, Miller was rated as a three-star and the No. 71 player in the state. He was previously committed to Mississippi State but flipped his pledge to USC on Oct. 14.
Wynn, a defensive tackle and four-year starter for Greene County, is headed to play at Florida State.
Wynn acknowledged how the Seminoles were consistent with him throughout the recruiting process.
“Like I’ve said before, FSU has been with me since ninth grade and they’ve been consistently showing me love. I’ve been showing them love,” Wynn said. “We’ve both been lured to each other. I can see they’re obviously rebuilding, but I can see the process being great. I want to be a part of that.”
As a senior, Wynn totaled 68 tackles and a team-high 27 tackles for loss. He also had seven sacks.
According to the 247Sports composite, Wynn was rated a four-star, the nation’s No. 98 prospect, No. 14 defensive lineman, and No. 13 prospect in Georgia. He committed to Florida State in June and never backed off his pledge. But South Carolina, Georgia, USC, and Texas tried to flip him.
Miller and Wynn will be early enrollees at USC and Florida State. They will begin classes next month.
