Man arrested for sexual-related crime

An Eatonton man was arrested for molesting a teen Ohio resident, according to authorities. Shawn Patrick Stanley, 43, of the 300 block of Washington Street, Eatonton, was arrested on Aug. 3 on charges of aggravated sexual battery and sale of alcohol to a minor.

With a unanimous decision on Aug. 15, Eatonton City Council brought a nearly three-year wait to an end for Dot2Dot Inn owners Karen and Richard Garrett.

FOOTBALL: War Eagles looking for ‘consistency’

Last year, Putnam County High School (PCHS) football enjoyed one of the best seasons in its long-and-storied history. In Shaun Pope’s fourth season at the helm, the War Eagles went 12-1 overall, tying a program record for most wins in a single season.

FOOTBALL: Peters primed to ‘exceed expectations’ for War Eagles

Putnam County running back Tamarion Peters is primed to have a breakout senior campaign. Last season, he mainly split carries with Cedrion Brundage, who rushed for over 1,000 yards. Peters still had an impressive junior year, rushing for 463 yards on 53 attempts with 10 touchdowns.

Police chief: chaotic fighting, threats will not be tolerated

Eatonton Police Department received a call about a fight happening at Lawson Homes, and when all was said and done, five people were arrested. “When the officers got there, it was a very chaotic scene, very dangerous,” Police Chief Howell Cardwell said.

National Night Out brings community together

Putnam County schools have 42 new teachers

Students returning to school this month will see old friends—plus a healthy contingent of new faces among teachers and staff. Altogether, 42 of the 227 certified teachers (nearly 19 percent), in the Putnam County Charter School System’s four schools will be new to the district.
