After being taken over by new management in October, The Brickhouse Pub & Grub recently returned to serving Eatonton with live entertainment and food.

Todd Miles bought The Brickhouse from its previous owner in order to bring more entertainment value to the downtown core. Originally from Lakewood in Atlanta, Miles entered the restaurant business in 1994 and has developed 37 restaurants since. He said he realized the potential of The Brickhouse when he and his family began visiting Eatonton in search of a new location to open a piano bar.

“We liked (Eatonton) as a destination for its closeness to Milledgeville and Reynolds and for its great potential. In reality, what the community has here is a diamond; I mean it shines,” said Miles. “It’s a great environment and I am happy I could take over something that Hannah (the previous owner) poured her heart and soul into.”

In his experience, Miles said he has seen too many restaurants fail by just having food and ignoring that entertainment is the key to returning customers. For this reason, he adapted The Brickhouse to have a back patio featuring a stage for live entertainment and other attractions.

“Eatonton can be a destination for entertainment,” Miles declared. “Food alone doesn’t bring the customer in, so we host live entertainment from local bands to more famous names. We also have cornhole games, outside axe throwing in the back and communal events like karaoke. We strive to create an environment people want to return to and feel safe in.”

The Brickhouse also offers a wide selection of food, including a long list of appetizers, salads and sandwiches, burgers and wraps, and several sweet treats. According to Miles, the burgers are the most popular item on the menu and the bar has recently seen an increase in popularity with its cocktail menu.

“My personal favorite items on the menu are the Philly steak-and-cheese and our onion rings,” said Miles. “Our menu is made to be family-friendly and enjoyable for everyone. Everything we serve, including sauces, was developed by our chef, Grey Thigpen, who previously worked at the Harbor Club.”
