On Saturday, with the Dairy Festival going on across the street, three painters from the Color the World Bright program, directed by UGA’s Lamar Dodd School of Art Professor Joseph Norman, labored all day creating downtown Eatonton’s newest public artwork.

‘Peg Leg’ festival rocks downtown Eatonton

The 2nd annual “Peg Leg” Howell BBQ and Blues Festival took over downtown Eatonton’s City Center Stage this past Saturday when several hundred music lovers enjoyed sets by five live acts, with a professional DJ keeping the crowd entertained during changeovers between bands.

Eatonton Wall of Honor ceremony delayed, not dampened

A wet weather forecast for Nov. 11 pushed back a scheduled VFW-led Veterans Day program at the Putnam County Veterans Wall of Honor Park to Monday under cool, but bright, clear skies.

Dual Vision debuts at Eatonton’s Barrel 118

Since 2017, The Artisans Village Guild has collaborated with the Associated Photographers of Lake Oconee photo club for the Dual Vision: Art Through Different Eyes exhibition. This year the number of participating artists was larger and the artwork and photos were better than ever.

National Night Out brings community together

Community members of all ages gathered on Aug. 2, for National Night Out in the parking lot of Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, where local public-service entities and professionals who respond to emergency situations gathered to introduce themselves, answer questions and address concerns.

Community support continues for Eatonton recreation facility

Last Thursday, sheets of monsoon-like rain drove local residents attending a rally at Jimmy Davis Park (JDP) indoors to the American Legion Hall next door—where a storm over the park’s fate resumed unabated.

The Brickhouse makes comeback with new management

After being taken over by new management in October, The Brickhouse Pub & Grub recently returned to serving Eatonton with live entertainment and food. Todd Miles bought The Brickhouse from its previous owner in order to bring more entertainment value to the downtown core.

Federal funds arrive for Eatonton City Center Stage

Mark Libell, chief of staff for Sen. Raphael Warnock and Georgia Southwest Outreach representative Sheknita Davis visited Eatonton on July 7, to deliver $250,000 in federal funding for renovations to downtown’s City Center Stage.
