Proposed BOE budget increases by 5%

Superintendent Eric Arena presented the 2022-2023 proposed school year budget at a public meeting on Monday. Arena presented a slide show that walked through key parts of the budget, how the schools have improved over the last year and how the budget has changed from the previous year.

Eatonton considers BnB special-event dining approval

The City of Eatonton Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing Aug. 8, to consider amendments to the city’s zoning ordinances regarding bed-and-breakfast (BnB) operations, specifically regarding rules for food service to non-BnB diners for special events.

Camp develops artistic and critical-thinking skills

Faithful to its mission of developing kids between school years, the Summer Inspiration Program implemented popular trends in its educational activities, including its recently completed “Rocking Out with Rock Painting” camp at Putnam County Elementary School.

The Brickhouse makes comeback with new management

After being taken over by new management in October, The Brickhouse Pub & Grub recently returned to serving Eatonton with live entertainment and food. Todd Miles bought The Brickhouse from its previous owner in order to bring more entertainment value to the downtown core.

Song and dance filled The Plaza Arts Center July 11-15 as participants of Camp Broadway practiced their roles. The camp is designed in a way in which kids practice a musical selected by the camp instructors for five days, and on the last day, they present their performance to the audience.
