MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Godfrey Road address on Jan. 19 in reference to a fight. Due to inconsistencies in statements given by participants at the scene, no warrants have been filed. Two people involved were advised of the TPO process.

Harvin hired as PCHS head football coach

Joel Harvin is familiar with the program and culture built by retired Putnam County head coach Shaun Pope. Early County, the program Harvin coached at the time, traveled to Eatonton in 2020 to face the higher-seeded War Eagles for a first-round playoff game at Al Reaves Field.

Madison awarded GMA safety & liability management grant

The Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) is proud to announce the City of Madison received a grant check in the amount of $8,800 to be used toward the purchase of equipment to reduce exposures related to liability and property damage.

A Douglasville man was arrested on multiple charges on Jan. 17 after he refused to give his driver’s license to the deputy who pulled him over.

Timeline proposed for new Putnam elementary school

Assistant Superintendent Derick Austin reported the proposed timeline for the new elementary school to the Putnam County Board of Education on Monday. The timeline estimates the design will start in June with construction beginning in January 2024.

BOE approves spending allocation toward new school

Last week, the Greene County Board of Education voted to approve the first spending allocation toward the new school on Meadow Crest Road in Greensboro city limits thanks to the favorable ESPLOST vote by taxpayers.
