Father sentenced to 30 years in child’s death

The tragic story of Trigger Carson was finally brought to a conclusion on Jan. 29 Trigger's father, Andrew Carson, was sentenced by Ocmulgee Circuit Judge Amanda Petty to 30 years with 12 years to serve in confinement for his role in Trigger’s death.

Buckhead stores burglarized

A pair of convenience stores in the Buckhead area were burglarized last week.Morgan County deputies responded to the Sunoco off Seven Islands Road on the morning of Jan. 16 about a burglary. Deputies found the window shattered and a pick axe between window bars.

Suspect steals lottery tickets, punches clerks

A Morgan County man has been charged with strong-arm robbery and two counts of simple battery after he allegedly stole lottery scratch-off tickets from a BP station and punched store employees in the process at Rutledge Crossing on the afternoon of Jan. 5.

There’s a new sheriff in town.Republican Tyler Hooks will be the next Morgan County sheriff following a significant victory over Democrat Derrick Reid Tuesday.Hooks won with 71.1 percent of the vote (9,293) to Reid’s 28.90 percent (3,778).

Thieves break into four cars, steal one of them

Warrants issued for suspected tool thieves

A pair of Morgan men were so pleased with the tools they stole from Madison’s Lowes department store that they went back and stole more three days later. The two men allegedly stole more than $750 in merchandise during two separate shoplifting incidents on Sept. 10 and Sept. 13.
