First Call puts fashion first in May fundraiser

First Call Pregnancy Center (FCPC) held its 5th annual Spring Fashion Show Fundraiser on May 9, at Festival Hall in Greensboro. Doors opened early for shopping hosted by Spivey Jewelry & Fashion, followed by event hosts Dr. Rick Franks and Melinda Spivey kicking off the fun-filled event at 11 a.m.

Mothers Against Crime (MAC) held its annual banquet Saturday night at Eatonton’s First United Methodist Church, where approximately 50 people shared a meal and fellowship while listening to local pastors and law enforcement leaders offer encouraging words to and about the 31-year-old organization.

Georgia Supreme Court denies Perrault new trial

Prison walls will apparently remain Michael Seth Perrault’s home for the rest of his life. On May 2, the Supreme Court of Georgia denied the former Eatonton Police officer’s request for a new trial. Perrault was found guilty of the murder of his wife in a February 2022 trial.

The 2nd annual “Peg Leg” Howell BBQ and Blues Festival took over downtown Eatonton’s City Center Stage this past Saturday when several hundred music lovers enjoyed sets by five live acts, with a professional DJ keeping the crowd entertained during changeovers between bands.

The Putnam County Board of Commissioners may not have made any final decisions on a short-term rental (STR) ordinance during a Monday morning work session, but enough general consensus emerged to direct the staff to draft a new version.

Summer is all about vacations, time with friends and summer camps. Looking for a way to keep your child or grandchild entertained in a fun and creative way? The Plaza Arts Center has you covered! The Plaza is offering two summer camps this year.

Attendees participate in the Maypole Dance under the guidance of Helen Garcia-Carreras, the choreographer at The Arts Barn. According to her, the maypole dance is a German tradition celebrating the revival of nature. Her mother, Lora Garcia-Carreras, owner of The Arts Barn, studied dances of various countries and was inspired by this German tradition. LENA HENSLEY/Staff
