First Call Pregnancy Center (FCPC) held its 5th annual Spring Fashion Show Fundraiser on May 9, at Festival Hall in Greensboro.
Doors opened early for shopping hosted by Spivey Jewelry & Fashion, followed by event hosts Dr. Rick Franks and Melinda Spivey kicking off the fun-filled event at 11 a.m., shortly before the fashion show got underway.
A light lunch was provided, and the event also featured a raffle, silent auction, and shopping for clothes and accessories. Jewelry designer Sarah Spivey was on hand, joined by her brother Luke, who makes unique candles in bottles and also offers candle making classes.
In a letter sent to The Eatonton Messenger, FCPC Executive Director Dawn Clifton said the inaugural fashion show event in 2019 raised approximately $4,400 but more than $52,000 was collected for the cause this year. She said the fashion show events have raised more than $100,000 total for First Call and thanked the Spivey family and volunteers for their continuing support.
All proceeds from the event went to FCPC, which provides services to men, women and families in a five-county area. The money raised also supports pregnancy education programs, as well as much-needed upgrades to and around the facility.
Open since August 2005, First Call Pregnancy Center calls itself “a resource to assist and advise you in the event of an unplanned pregnancy, or to help and educate mothers and fathers on taking care of their baby.”
FCPC is a non-profit, non-political and non-denominational organization “committed to the sanctity of human life.” It seeks to offer assistance to anyone in crisis, particularly because of an unplanned pregnancy.
First Call is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Thursday at 1531 W. Broad St., Greensboro. For more information on FCPC, call 706-453-1908, email fcpcgreensboro@gmail.com, or visit online at firstcall.me.
