The City of Madison held a parade and festival on Saturday, June 17, to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday that followed on Monday.
Mayor Fred Perriman was at the center of the event greeting those in attendance with his customary warmth and geniality.

Madison council approves permit for apartment house

The Madison City Council approved a conditional use permit at its June 12 meeting that will allow a local developer to construct an apartment house.
Zachary Williams, the owner of Z. Williams Development Company, plans to construct a single apartment building containing four apartment units.

Lithonia man killed in I-20 crash

A Lithonia man died May 18 when his Honda Civic crashed into a concrete bridge pier supporting the Seven Islands overpass.
According to Sgt. N.B. Carter of the Georgia State Patrol, 25-year-old Devonte Abner of 6458 Alford Way received fatal injuries upon impact at approximately 4:30 p.m.
