Morgan County BOC makes appointments

The Morgan County Board of Commissioners made several appointments during its April 15 meeting.The commissioners appointed Jalle Ashley, Lucy Ray, Lee Nunn, Rachel Kinsaul, and Ellen Warren to the inaugural Farmland Protection Advisory Board.

Morgan BOC approves variance to renovate fuel station

With a full board following the swearing in of new commissioners Carl Jones and Nathan Park, the Morgan County Board of Commissioners got to work Tuesday and approved a variance to required setbacks for .29 acres located at 2700 Fairplay Rd., paving the way for the renovation of Fairplay Grocery.

Morgan adds commissioners; Greene passes SPLOST

Morgan County has two new commissioners following Tuesday’s special election.Former Madison police officer Carl Jones, a Democrat, beat Republican Ed Latham and Democrat Cedric Robertson for the County Commission District 1 seat. Jones won with 58.

Forum introduces Morgan County BOC candidates

Early voting for the March 18 special election kicked off last week. On Feb. 27, Madison City Hall hosted a Q-and-A forum to introduce the candidates running for the District 1 and 5 seats on the Morgan County Board of Commissioners.

Special election coming for open District 5 seat on county commission

A special election will be held on March 18 to fill the Morgan County District 5 commissioner vacancy left by Bill Kurtz's recent resignation.Qualifying will be held at the Morgan County Elections Office (237 N. 2nd St., Madison) from 9 a.m. on Jan. 29 to 1 p.m. on Jan. 31.
