The Morgan County Board of Commissioners made several appointments during its April 15 meeting.
The commissioners appointed Jalle Ashley, Lucy Ray, Lee Nunn, Rachel Kinsaul, and Ellen Warren to the inaugural Farmland Protection Advisory Board.
The BOC created the new board last July when it agreed to partner with the Madison-Morgan Conservancy to launch a county-funded farmland protection program.
The board also approved reappointing Bob Hughes to the Joint Development Authority Board, after the decision had been tabled during several meetings to give more applicants time to apply.
“He was the only one who applied during the initial period, and I think that’s important because there was plenty of time for other people to apply, and he’s the only one who regularly comes to our meetings,” District 3 Commissioner Ben Riden said in his motion to appoint Hughes. “Plus, his background with community service — he did a lot with Georgia Power — makes him uniquely qualified in understanding how quasi-governmental organizations work, which is what the board is.”
