Man arrested for sexual-related crime

An Eatonton man was arrested for molesting a teen Ohio resident, according to authorities.
Shawn Patrick Stanley, 43, of the 300 block of Washington Street, Eatonton, was arrested on Aug. 3 on charges of aggravated sexual battery and sale of alcohol to a minor.

City of Madison sets millage rates

The Madison City Council set its millage rates for the upcoming tax cycle during its Aug. 8 meeting. Municipal taxes are in addition to the taxes paid to Morgan County.
The millage rate for the entire City of Madison was lowered from 5.573 to 5.554. That translates to an additional $222.

Firefly Trail gets fash of hope from commissioners

A key multi-city project was given a go-ahead for TSPLOST funding from the county’s FY2022 budget at last week’s Greene County Board of Commissioners meeting.
The board approved the use of TSPLOST funding to increase the county’s funding for the popular Firefly Trail.

Police chief: chaotic fighting, threats will not be tolerated

Eatonton Police Department received a call about a fight happening at Lawson Homes, and when all was said and done, five people were arrested.
“When the officers got there, it was a very chaotic scene, very dangerous,” Police Chief Howell Cardwell said.

Ingles employee robbed in store parking lot

According to a report obtained from the Madison Police Department, a customer service manager for Ingles was assaulted and robbed in the Ingles parking lot July 28.
Sgt. Jeremy Hoffman responded to the incident and spoke with the victim Sidney Franklin.
