Shooting victim draws crowd to Putnam General Hospital

Two shootings reportedly happened in Hancock County Tuesday evening. The outcome of one of them spilled over into Putnam County, but without incident, according to authorities. A call reportedly came into Putnam 911 Tuesday night about a vehicle wreck with injuries near the Hancock County line.

BOE cuts millage rate thanks to growth

School is back in session, and county residents are looking at their millage rates for future tax bills. Last week’s meeting of the Greene County Board of Education saw the passage of a new millage rate for the county of 11.648. In comparison, last year’s millage rate was 12.

A motorist traveling through Morgan County on I-20 had a close encounter with a UFO (Unidentified Flying Ornithological) Aug. 21. According to reports, a Morgan County deputy was dispatched to an area near milepost 126 and the Lake Oconee Bridge on I-20 in reference to a property damage complaint.

Almost online: EPD approves water treatment plant

The brand-new Piedmont Water Company treatment plant could be only weeks away from going online. The $15 million facility is complete, and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division has approved the results of a 30-day quality check of water processed by the plant.

Thief steals cash drawers and tequila from Dos Amigos

A popular Mexican restaurant on Eatonton Road in Madison was burglarized on the night of Monday, Aug. 15. Madison police officer Mike Maxwell was dispatched to Dos Amigos after employees found the door that opens to the patio seating area shattered when opening the restaurant at 7:30 a.m.
