Greensboro police officers made two significant arrests last week following traffic stops, according to Police Chief Rodricus Monford. The first occurred on Aug. 30, while officers were patrolling the area of East Broad Street. Officers saw a man driving without his seatbelt on.

Sheriff’s office deploys license plate-reading cameras

Morgan County Sheriff Robert Markley announced the activation of Flock License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras throughout the county last week. According to a press release sent from the MCSO, Markley is excited about this new tool and its potential for public safety enhancement.

An employee of Morgan County’s Department of Roads and Bridges is in the Intensive Care Unit at Piedmont Hospital in Athens following a freak accident at the scene of an accident on Pennington Road in the early morning hours of Aug. 28.

In a hastily called special meeting, the Lake Oconee Academy Board of Governors last Friday voted to ask the Georgia Department of Education to allow the charter school to increase its enrollment above the charter limit of 1,051.
