Man arrested for sexual-related crime

An Eatonton man was arrested for molesting a teen Ohio resident, according to authorities.

Shawn Patrick Stanley, 43, of the 300 block of Washington Street, Eatonton, was arrested on Aug. 3 on charges of aggravated sexual battery and sale of alcohol to a minor.

The teen was in Eatonton for a week in late July visiting family members when Stanley provided the teen with the alcohol, Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell said.

No one else was reportedly at the house at the time. After the teen had a few drinks, Stanley reportedly molested the 17-year-old.

The teen returned home to Ohio and told a parent what had happened. The teen’s parents called the Eatonton Police Department and reported the crime.

Officer Rebecca Meeks took over the investigation and the parent brought the teen back to Georgia to the Crescent House in Macon, Cardwell said. The Crescent House Child Advocacy Center has specially trained professionals who provide evidence-based services for therapy, forensic interviews and medical exams for children of physical or sexual abuse.

Stanley was released from jail after posting an $18,000 property bond for the aggravated sexual battery charge, and a $2,000 bond on the sale of alcohol to a minor charge, according to jail records.
