2023 Liberty Truck and Tractor Pull draws crowd

The second event of the 2023 Liberty Truck and Tractor Pull series got off to a fine start Saturday, with gates opening at 1 p.m. and the regular season pulls with the antique tractors off and running down the track at 3 p.m.

Putnam County AP art students deliver

Throughout the 2022‘23 school semesters, Putnam County High School (PCHS) offered an Advanced Placement (AP) art class for the second-straight year, in which students created a portfolio of art that included five completed works and interim submissions as parts of a sustained investigation.

The Greene County Chamber of Commerce welcomed the Dough Daddy Dough Food Trailer with a ribbon-cutting ceremony during “Food Truck Friday” May 12, at 1124 Lake Oconee Pkwy., Eatonton, where it will be stationed from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each Friday.

Artisans Village Guild showcases local art

The 7th annual Lake Country Juried Art Show took place May 11, at Barrel 118 in Eatonton. This year the show featured 95 works from 48 artists from Lake Country, as well as Athens and Macon. "We had more people enter this year than any year before," Show Chairperson Cathy McIntire said.

The grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Fifth Street Community Garden (FSCG) gathered community members in Madison on May 5. Located at 664 Fifth Street in Madison, FSCG is a nonprofit, the goal of which is to bring the community together and increase local food sources.

Mothers Against Crime holds annual banquet

Mothers Against Crime (MAC) held its annual banquet Saturday night at Eatonton’s First United Methodist Church, where approximately 50 people shared a meal and fellowship while listening to local pastors and law enforcement leaders offer encouraging words to and about the 31-year-old organization.
