‘Peg Leg’ festival rocks downtown Eatonton

The 2nd annual “Peg Leg” Howell BBQ and Blues Festival took over downtown Eatonton’s City Center Stage this past Saturday when several hundred music lovers enjoyed sets by five live acts, with a professional DJ keeping the crowd entertained during changeovers between bands.

Places Far and Near opens at MAGallery

Madison Artists Guild Gallery (MAGallery) is excited to welcome Atlanta artist Lisa Guyton to its gallery for her one-woman exhibition titled “Places Far and Near.” Guyton is a visual artist who grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and has called Atlanta home since 1995.

Summer is all about vacations, time with friends and summer camps. Looking for a way to keep your child or grandchild entertained in a fun and creative way? The Plaza Arts Center has you covered! The Plaza is offering two summer camps this year.
Attendees participate in the Maypole Dance under the guidance of Helen Garcia-Carreras, the choreographer at The Arts Barn. According to her, the maypole dance is a German tradition celebrating the revival of nature. Her mother, Lora Garcia-Carreras, owner of The Arts Barn, studied dances of various countries and was inspired by this German tradition. LENA HENSLEY/Staff

Rodeo Draws Huge Crowd

Everybody likes a rodeo, or so it seemed last Saturday at Greene County’s AG Expo Center on C. Weldon Smith Road. Now in its 24th year, the Greene County Livestock Association brought excitement to the area in front of a standing-room-only crowd.

OPAS presents Memorial Day weekend concert

The Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) recently featured American legend Michael Feinstein and two-time Grammy winner Samara Joy. Both events were sellouts and next up will be its popular Memorial Day weekend concert at 7 p.m.
