The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties celebrated International Peace Day on Sept. 21 with a celebration at the Rotary Peace Pole located at the Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club. International Peace Day was originally established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. Then, in 2001, the General Assembly marked this day as the day of nonviolence and ceasefire.
