MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Godfrey Road address on Jan. 19 in reference to a fight. Due to inconsistencies in statements given by participants at the scene, no warrants have been filed. Two people involved were advised of the TPO process.

MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT Morgan County deputies were dispatched to Sandy Creek Road address on Jan. 11 regarding a possible automobile theft. The complainant said his white F-350 was missing from where it had been parked in the driveway at his mother’s house. It was last seen on Dec. 26.

Accused thief gets more than he bargained for

Madison police officers were summoned to Walmart on Jan. 7 to investigate a shoplifting incident and wound up seizing a cache of drugs when the shoplifter asked that the items he paid for be placed in his car.

MPD officers administer Narcan to unresponsive subjects

Madison police officers had to administer three doses of Narcan, an opioid-overdose reversal drug, to unresponsive subjects during the early morning hours of Jan. 6.

Three arrested in Morgan County after pursuit

A trio of men riding in a car that had reportedly been involved in a shots-fired incident at the Orchard Grove apartments in Madison were arrested Dec. 29 on multiple charges following a brief pursuit.

Thieves come up with new trick to steal checks

According to the Madison Police Department, thieves have come up with an inventive way to steal mail. According to the Department’s Facebook page “Thieves are installing a ‘cardboard mail catcher’ to the inside of the pass-through opening of the blue mailboxes behind the post office.

Madison police officer nearly hit by fleeing vehicle

A Madison police officer was nearly hit by a car on Oct. 19 while trying to place stop sticks on I-20 in an effort to assist the Taliaferro County Sheriff’s Office with a high-speed pursuit.

Madison, Greensboro police team up to catch suspect in stolen truck

The Madison and Greensboro Police Departments teamed up to put an end to a pursuit that began on West Broad Street during the early morning hours of Sept. 30. According to the GPD, officers were patrolling West Broad Street when they spotted a car traveling without headlights on.
