MMCC prepares to open Andrews Legacy Exhibit

The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center (MMCC) will debut its Andrews Legacy Exhibit Oct. 29, featuring a local Black family that flourished under the trying system of sharecropping tenant farming, according to exhibit curator Martina Dodd.

MMCC welcomes new board members

Current and former trustees of the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center (MMCC), along with volunteers and other friends, gathered at the Cultural Center on July 17, for the center’s annual meeting. Incoming Board Chair Ruth Bracewell welcomed everyone and introduced her predecessor, David Burbach, who gave remarks and showed a short video recapping the MMCC’s 2022-23 fiscal year.

One of the joys of finding collections each quarter for the display cabinet in the front hall of the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center (mmcc-arts. org) is simply learning new things with every exhibit. Starting in April and running through June, Chandler Pike is sharing a lifetime collection of matryoshka dolls.

Jadeite glass and recipes on display in Madison

The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center (434 S. Main St., Madison) is hosting another of its Collector’s Showcase exhibits through the end of December, featuring kitchen ceramics made of Jadeite glass, owned by Karen Massey, and a collection of 19th-century handwritten recipes from local families, now owned by Becky Vickery.
