MMCC welcomes new board members

    Current and former trustees of the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center (MMCC), along with volunteers and other friends, gathered at the Cultural Center on July 17, for the center’s annual meeting.

    Incoming Board Chair Ruth Bracewell welcomed everyone and introduced her predecessor, David Burbach, who gave remarks and showed a short video recapping the MMCC’s 2022-23 fiscal year.

    Committee chairs then reported on activities of the past year, as well as plans for the upcoming year. Betsy Morehouse reported on the status of a new permanent exhibit, the Andrews Legacy Gallery, scheduled for an Oct. 22nd opening.

    MMCC officers for the coming year will be Chair Ruth Bracewell, Vice Chair Eric Joyce, Secretary Jamie von Hanstein and Treasurer Alla Campbell.

    Bracewell gave her chair’s report and announced the newly elected trustees, including herself, Chris Hodges, Floyd Newton III, Christian Williams, and Campbell. They will join current trustees Lee Abney, Valle Ashley, Cheryl Bland, Kate Booker, Kathryn Cardwell, Brian Collins, Zeb Grant, Maghan Jefferson, Eric Joyce, Chris Lambert, Jan Manos, Jane Stoner, and Jamie von Hanstein.

    Committee chairs, advisory board members and former trustees also were recognized.

    MMCC Executive Director Cynthia Huger closed the annual meeting with introductions of the MMCC staff and specially recognized Ann Pitner, who retired from MMCC after eight years of service. Following the business meetings, trustees and guests adjourned to the Arts & Crafts Gallery for a reception hosted by David and Sarah Burbach.
