XC: Lady Titans win region title, Titans finish second

The Lake Oconee Academy cross-country teams had a successful Region 8A Division II meet. The girls and boys qualified for the GHSA Class A Division II meet in Carrollton this Saturday. The Lady Titans captured the region title as Jane Monachello placed first overall with a time of 24:06.

SOFTBALL: Titans fall short at Super Regional to end season

Even though the Lake Oconee Academy softball team’s season ended earlier than they would have liked it to, the Lady Titans still have a lot to be proud of after recently ending its 2022 season.

FOOTBALL: Titans defeat Patriots on Senior Night for back-to-back wins

For a program that just started at the beginning of last season, the Lake Oconee Academy football team has seen tremendous progress in its second year. The Titans (4-5) most recently defeated the Georgia School for Innovation and Classics Patriots (0-9) by the final score of 43-0.

VOLLEYBALL: Lady Titans eliminated in first round of playoffs

Lake Oconee Academy entered the state playoffs as the No. 3 seed from Area 5, but the Lady Titans got a tough first-round draw with No. 2 seed Mt. Pisgah Christian. The Lady Patriots ended their season last week, defeating the Lady Titans in straight sets.

Draft agreement signed, LOA-BOE settlement near

Just 12 days after school officials announced a preliminary agreement to settle Lake Oconee Academy’s two-year-long lawsuit against the Greene County Board of Education, both boards have approved a draft agreement. It happened Monday night during a called meeting of the two boards.
While the LOA Board was in a closed, executive session, the audience became an instant open, public chat session with members of the BOE about education issues facing the county. LOA-BOE deal might be near

There might be a resolution to the long-running Lake Oconee Academy lawsuit against the Greene County Board of Education. The lawsuit, filed by LOA in September 2020, accuses the school district of failing to pass through enough money to fund all of LOA’s students.

Letter to the Editor: BOE supports LOA students

This past week, there has been a renewed public debate going on about issues between LOA and Greene County School System leadership. We would like to make it clear that the Greene County Board of Education supports the LOA students, parents, and staff.

Big planning ahead for Greene schools

Both Lake Oconee Academy and the Greene County School System are working on their five-year strategic plans, but they are developing their plans independently of each other.
