XC: Lady Titans win region title, Titans finish second

The Lake Oconee Academy cross-country teams had a successful Region 8A Division II meet.

The girls and boys qualified for the GHSA Class A Division II meet in Carrollton this Saturday. The Lady Titans captured the region title as Jane Monachello placed first overall with a time of 24:06.67 in the girls’ race.

Marley Dellinger (fourth, 28:38.13), Kensi Stevens (fifth, 29:27.65), Ana Garcia (seventh, 31:32.68) and Brenlee Brown (10th, 33:54.3) rounded out the top 10 for Lake Oconee Academy at the meet. The Lady Titans’ Libby Hopkins finished 16th overall with a mark of 38:50.52.

Also, in the girls’ competition, Greene County had two runners in the top 10 of the race. Kimora Harper placed sixth (30:04.92) and Quanas Benford eighth, respectively.

Lake Oconee Academy’s boys’ cross-country team finished second overall behind Aquinas.

The Titans had four runners - Carson Johnson (fourth), Justin Zahler (sixth), Todd Anthony (seventh), and Yael Rodriguez (eighth) - finish in the top 10. Titan runners Adam Kalmanowicz (11th), Jefferson Amaya (12th) and Mason Honea (15th) were also productive and all finished in the top 20 of the boys’ race.

Greene County had Yoni Cardona and Alex Cardona finish 16th and 17th, respectively.

The Class A Division II race will take place on Friday, Nov. 4. The Titans will run at 10:30 a.m. and the Lady Titans will run at 11:15 a.m. following the conclusion of the boys’ race.
