Lake Oconee Academy language arts teacher Caroline St. John was the keynote speaker at this year’s We3 Women’s Conference in Conyers. The We3 Women’s Conference is a Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce event. We3 was started in 2017 and stands for women's empowerment, engagement and education.

BASKETBALL: Lady Titans’ 29-game win streak snapped

After going undefeated the entire 2021-22 season, the Lake Oconee Academy girl’s basketball team finally tasted defeat last Saturday morning at Grayson High School. The Lady Titans tipped off against the North Paulding Wolfpack in the first game of a Sandy Spiel Shootout 42-32.

BOE, LOA cannot agree after signing agreement

Judge to rule on LOA-BOE stalemate

It looks like Fulton County Superior Court Judge Emily Richardson may end up being the decision maker in the 27-month-long lawsuit that charter school Lake Oconee Academy filed against the Greene County Board of Education.

LOA’s One-Act Play named region champion, state runner-up

On Oct. 28, Lake Oconee Academy’s high school theatre troupe captured the Region One-Act Play Championship trophy with their moving production of Mockingbird, which tells the story of Caitlin, a young girl on the autism spectrum.

BASKETBALL: Lake Oconee Academy teams tip off at home

After hiring two new head coaches for both the girls and boys basketball programs, Lake Oconee Academy hosted its first home game of the 2022 season. The defending state champion Lady Titans took the court first at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, and defeated Athens Christian 62-45.

FOOTBALL: Titans finish last month of season strong

In just the second year of the Lake Oconee Academy football program, the Titans made strides of progress that could be seen in moments across the 2022 season. First-year head coach Patrick Stewart is thankful for the position he’s in and proud of the way his team competed against tough opponents.

XC: LOA teams finish top 10 in state

Both of Lake Oconee Academy’s cross-country teams traveled to Carrollton earlier this November to compete in the GHSA Class A Division II state championship meet. The Lady Titans finished ninth overall as a team, and junior Jane Monachello was the squad’s highest finisher.

LOA-BOE legal wrangling continues despite agreement

The Lake Oconee Academy Board of Governors and Greene County Board of Education are continuing their chess match, despite the fact both parties have signed a draft agreement that would end LOA’s two-year-long lawsuit against the BOE over funding issues.
