Lady Titans prepare to defend state title

After winning the GHSA Class A Public state championship last year, the Lake Oconee Academy girls basketball team has set itself up in a similar position.

Titans take to the diamond for opening day

The Lake Oconee Academy baseball program is in its seventh season and traveled to the Academy for Classical Education (ACE) for its season opener this past Monday.

The Lake Oconee Academy Board of Governors held its first meeting Monday night since the lawsuit against the Greene County Board of Education over funding was resolved. The settlement came on Jan. 19, when the BOE approved an offer from LOA, Greene County’s only public charter school. On Feb.

Four Titans to tee off at collegiate level

It’s already impressive enough for high school student-athletes to make it to the next level, but it’s even more impressive when a group of student-athletes at the same school get recruited for the same sport.

LOA’s Heinen named PAGE STAR Student region winner

Hailey Heinen, a high school senior at Lake Oconee Academy, has been named a 2023 PAGE STAR Student Region Winner for PAGE STAR Region 4. The announcement was made on Jan. 19 by Patricia Randolph at the local event luncheon sponsored by Greene County Rotary Club.

BASKETBALL: Lady Titans fall to Towns County in first region loss

Over the weekend, the Lake Oconee Academy girls’ basketball team dropped its first region game of the season to the Towns County Lady Indians. The Saturday afternoon contest was close through all four quarters, but the Lady Titans were eventually defeated 52-49 in Hiawassee.

BASKETBALL: Titans’ middle school team wins league championship

When looking at the school’s basketball program as a whole, Lake Oconee Academy has seen great development at every level since starting in 2016. Most importantly, the Titans’ coaching staff has started to play a role in player development at the middle school level.

The Lake Oconee Academy boys’ basketball team has gotten hot over the holidays after winning two of its last four regular season games to end the year. The Titans picked up their second region victory last Friday defeating the Georgia School for Innovation and Classics (GSIC) Patriots 73-61.

LOA-BOE settlement teeters on brink of approval

The Greene County Board of Education unanimously voted in an open session on Dec. 15 to approve a new settlement offer, hoping to end a legal dispute with Lake Oconee Academy. “I feel ecstatic,” BOE Chairman Mike Lynch told the Lake Oconee News.
