Thunderous explosions at the Novelis Plant on Willow Run Road in Greensboro were reportedly heard by residents as far away as Siloam on March 1.

Third Reynolds fire since Christmas not as severe

For the third time since Christmas, a home was damaged by fire in Reynolds Lake Oconee, according to Greene County Fire and Rescue.Engines 9,10, 11, and 13 responded to Reynolds Landing on Jan.

Fire forces family from Reynolds home

A second house fire at a Reynolds Lake Oconee home valued at $1.4 million caused heavy damage and displaced a family of seven last week.The fire call came in at 10:34 a.m. Jan. 1, and elements of Greene County Fire Rescue began arriving at 10:43 a.m.

A blaze that spread rapidly through a home on Davison Drive in Reynolds Lake Oconee left very little in its wake Dec. 26.

Lake Country spared the worst of Hurricane Helene

While Lake Country was spared the most intense winds and rain brought by Hurricane Helene, the storm has killed more than 110 people across the southeast, a number expected to rise in the coming days. Thirty-five were killed in Buncombe County, North Carolina, alone.

Mobile home fire claims Greene County man’s life

A Greene County man lost his life in a mobile home fire on Ward Road in northwest Greene County during the early morning hours of March 30.Ronald Robinson succumbed to injuries sustained in the blaze before rescue personnel were able to reach him.
