New president/CEO named for St. Mary’s HCS

St. Mary’s Health Care System (HCS) and Trinity Health, which includes St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, have named Stonish Pierce, FACHE, as president and CEO of Trinity Health Georgia Region, effective April 24. Pierce comes to Trinity Health Georgia from Holy Cross Health in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where he has served since January 2021 as chief operating officer.

Sherley Selman named outstanding 4-H volunteer

4-H competes in Junior/Senior District Project Achievement

Greene County 4-H celebrates our six 4-Hers who participated in the Northeast Junior/Senior District Project Achievement (DPA) competition held at Rock Eagle 4-H Center March 10-12. There were 374 competitors representing each county in the Northeast District.

Convicted child rapist gets 40 years

A Greene County jury took less than an hour to convict an Eatonton man on one count of statutory rape and one count of child molestation for the sexual abuse of a young family member after a proceeding that concluded on March 15.

Greensboro hires new city manager to start May 1

Greensboro city council approved the hire of a new city manager effective May 1. Current city manager Larry Postell will be retiring, having served under two mayoral administrations since 2002. He is expected to stay on for a period of 60-90 days to aid in the transition.
