A Greene County man was arrested in Madison on March 29 in the wake of a domestic incident. Justin Demond Nesbitt, 34, of Woodville has been charged with three counts of obstruction, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and pedestrian under the influence of alcohol.

There was a large community turnout to review the initial comprehensive strategic plan for Greene County. Held last week, more than 50 county residents came to hear and see planning boards that outline supportive measures and to understand plans underway. It was also an opportunity to provide further input following the first visionary meeting held last November.

A man who said he had recently moved to Eatonton was arrested on trafficking methamphetamine charges on March 20 after a Greene County Deputy found a white powder in his car that the man said was merely sugar.

Over the past couple years, Greene County athletics have seen an uptick in production, and Derrick Williams played a big role in that. Williams has been the girls’ basketball head coach for the past two seasons and was promoted to athletic director by Greene’s principal Eddie Hood at the beginning of this school year.

February 23rd dawned clear and sunny in Greensboro. The city went about its business, students entered and exited schools, golfers appeared on the courses, and some boaters on the lake enjoyed a brief respite from the colder temperatures that swept through the area recently.

A South Carolina man, who was originally a passenger in a car pulled over for a window tint violation, slid into the driver’s seat and took off down I-20 in Greene County in the early morning hours of March 17. He was arrested on March 21 by another agency and transported back to Greene County.

It was raining hard, and the skies were dark outside Sunday, but everything was bright inside St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro as they officially dedicated new, upgraded diagnostic equipment and facilities. It is the result of a $3-million fundraising campaign that started in 2019, just before COVID.

Victory Train, an early childhood education program in Greensboro, is committed to empowering parents with the necessary skills and resources to enhance students’ educational paths in school. It has proven to be a good resource to the Greene County school system by partnering with teachers and students throughout the district.

Greene County’s wrestling program has seen its ups and downs over the last 30 years, but it’s looking to change that with its most recent hire. The GCHS administration just signed Aubrey Fortson, who will be taking over for former head coach Todd Clifton.
