Future is bright for Lady Tigers

Experience helps Morgan girls advance to Final Four

After reaching the Elite Eight for the second consecutive year, the No. 5 seed Morgan County girls' basketball team took another step forward on Tuesday, defeating No. 20 Carver (Columbus) at home to advance.The Lady Dogs toppled the Lady Tigers 58-33 to advance to the Class 2A Final Four.

Maidens triumph over Lady Titans in first round of playoffs

Charlton County used a strong second-half effort to pull out a 67–51 win over Lake Oconee Academy on Feb. 18 in the first round of the Class A Division II state playoffs.The Maidens (21-7) advanced to the second round, where they lost 72-56 to No. 1 Randolph-Clay.

Dogs struggle in second-round loss to Warriors

Morgan County basketball’s 2024-25 season ended in the second round of the Class 2A tournament.The No. 3 seed Dogs lost to No. 19 KIPP Atlanta Collegiate (KAC) 65-48 on Feb. 22 on their home floor.

Greene's boys continue postseason run to Elite Eight

Greene County basketball continued its playoff run last week, advancing to the Elite Eight round of the Class A Division II playoffs after securing victories over Charlton County and Calhoun County.

Lady Dogs return to Elite Eight, prepare for Carver

For the second year in a row, the Morgan County girls basketball team has advanced to the Elite Eight round of the state playoffs.Two weeks ago, the Lady Dogs won the Region 4-2A championship and entered the postseason as the No. 5 overall seed out of a 32-team bracket.

Mixed results for Gators at region tourney

Last Thursday, the Gatewood Gators traveled to Windsor Academy, on the south side of Macon, to take on Brentwood in the opening game of the GIAA Region 2-2A tournament, where they fell 74-56 to the War Eagles.

Tigers capture first region title in a decade

The Greene County boys basketball team recently won its first region championship in a decade.The Tigers (19-7) won the Class A Division II Region 8 title with a 76-61 win over Warren County (18-9).Greene had previously beaten Warren twice in the regular season, but last Friday’s win wasn’t easy.
