Lady ‘Dogs capture region title, ready for playoffs

The Morgan County girls basketball team (18-9) defeated Callaway on Feb. 15 to win the Region 4-AA title.The Lady Dogs conquered the Lady Cavs 62-51 on their home floor to secure the region championship.

'Dogs crowned region champs with win over Seminoles

Morgan County boys basketball captured the Region 4-AA title after defeating Westside (Macon) on Feb. 15.The Dogs defeated the Seminoles 54-40 at home in the championship game, earning the title of region champions.

Titans fall in region tournament, miss playoffs

The Lake Oconee Academy boys basketball team saw its season end in the region tournament on Feb. 11.Lincoln County defeated the Titans 60-35 in the quarterfinal round, ending their hopes of making the postseason for the first time in program history.

Lady Titans seeking fifth straight region title

The Lake Oconee Academy Lady Titans have won the past four region championships and seek a fifth straight.They’ve dominated Class A Division II’s Region 8 the past four seasons and entered this week’s tournament as the No. 2 seed behind Washington-Wilkes.

Lady Tigers top Towns, clinch playoff berth

In a must-win game, the Greene County girls basketball team defeated Towns County on Tuesday night.The Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Indians 54-41 in the first round of the region tournament, earning them a spot in the semifinals.

Mat Dogs send eight to state traditional championships

Morgan County had a strong showing at last week's Class 2A sectional round of the traditional tournament.The Mat Dogs sent 13 grapplers to sectionals, as eight moved on to the state competition in Macon on Thursday.
