Former MLB All Stars to hold camp in Greene County

Former Major League Baseball player and Greene County resident Mike Fischlin has again partnered with Greene County Recreation to host his second annual “Fisch Camp,” a one-day junior baseball clinic.

Greene boys, girls earn All-Region recognition

Greene County’s basketball teams had several players named to the All-Region team following the 2024-25 season.The Tigers dominated the All-Region honors, as head coach Mark Wright and six players garnered postseason accomplishments.

Dogs, Lady Dogs earn All-Region honors

Following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, several players on Morgan County’s basketball teams earned All-Region honors.The program’s two coaches — Cody Anderson (boys) and Milfred Franklin (girls) — were also recognized with a postseason award. They were each named Region Coach of the Year.

Three up, three down for Gators

Gatewood baseball went undefeated last week, beginning with a decisive 12-3 road win at Westfield. Last Thursday, the Gators followed with an impressive 3-1 win at home in Eatonton over top-ranked First Presbyterian Day. The Gators finished their week by taking down Monroe Area 12-1 in Monroe.

LOA boys, girls earn postseason awards

Several members of Lake Oconee Academy’s basketball teams earned All-Region honors after the end of the season.Three Titans received All-Region honors, and four Lady Titans were recognized on the postseason awards list.

McCurley: Kudos to Putnam High basketball

I rarely write columns, but I felt like I had to this week.I’ve had the pleasure of covering Putnam County High School’s basketball teams for the past three years, and the 2024-25 season was the most fun. This year’s teams were the most enjoyable to cover because each team had a lot of success.

Tigers suffer loss to Bucs in Final Four

MILLEDGEVILLE – Greene County faced a setback in the fourth quarter of last week’s Final Four matchup against McIntosh County Academy, enabling the Bucs to clinch a 49-41 victory and move on to the state title game.

Lady Dogs come up short in Final Four

AMERICUS – Murray County defeated Morgan County 71-66 in the Class AA semifinal on Feb. 28 at Georgia Southwestern University’s Storm Dome, securing a place in the state title game in Macon this week.
