BASKETBALL: Tigers to start 2023 playing cross-town rivals

It has been a rough start for the Greene County boys’ basketball team, but that’s to be expected with a program’s first-year head coach and a mostly new roster. As the players and staff have had time to come together as a unit, the Tigers have found more success.

BASKETBALL: Titans finding rhythm heading into new year

The Lake Oconee Academy boys’ basketball team has gotten hot over the holidays after winning two of its last four regular season games to end the year. The Titans picked up their second region victory last Friday defeating the Georgia School for Innovation and Classics (GSIC) Patriots 73-61.

FOOTBALL: Greene, Morgan players compete in FCA All-Star game

Several Lake Country athletes got to play football once more in their high school uniforms at the 2022 Athens-area Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) All-Star game. There were also two coaches, both from Morgan County, that got to participate in the contest.

BASKETBALL: Lady Titans’ 29-game win streak snapped

After going undefeated the entire 2021-22 season, the Lake Oconee Academy girl’s basketball team finally tasted defeat last Saturday morning at Grayson High School. The Lady Titans tipped off against the North Paulding Wolfpack in the first game of a Sandy Spiel Shootout 42-32.

BASKETBALL: Lady Dogs making progress under Franklin

The Morgan County girls’ basketball team is riding a high after going 2-1 last week. The Lady Dogs started off last Tuesday with a 56-55 victory over Oconee County. They battled the Lady Warriors for four quarters and came away with a win.

FOOTBALL: Greene, Morgan players selected for All-Region teams

Several football players from Greene County and Morgan County have recently been named All-Region selections in their respective classifications because of their on-field performances this past season.

BASKETBALL: War Eagles flying high at start of season

The Putnam County boys’ basketball team is off to one of the best starts in program history. The sixth-ranked War Eagles are currently 4-0 entering the fourth week of the season. According to MaxPreps.com, the last time Putnam started out 4-0 was the 2005-06 season.
