2022 SEC CHAMPIONS: Bennett tames Tigers in SEC title game

Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett delivered when it mattered most against LSU. The super senior tossed a season-high four passing TDs in a 50-30 win over the Tigers that also secured the 2022 SEC Championship and maintained the Bulldogs’ undefeated status for the year.

BASKETBALL: Lady Dogs stomp Social Circle, survive late scare from Greene

Milfred Franklin recently got his first career win as the Morgan County girls’ basketball head coach. The Lady Bulldogs returned to the court after Thanksgiving Break to take on rival Social Circle last Friday. They prevailed 49-23 over the Lady Redskins in front of a packed crowd at home.

BASKETBALL: Hot start for Gators under Keiser

The Gatewood boys’ basketball team is playing well for head coach Don Keiser so far this season. The Gators are currently 3-1 and have only four more games before the end of the year. They will then face a tough stretch following the winter break.

The 2022 college football season can best be described as unpredictable. Historical powerhouses like Clemson and Alabama lost multiple regular-season games, so both are out of the College Football Playoff.

From Bulldog to Panther: Schofield signs with Georgia State

The Morgan County baseball team won 20 games last season and had multiple talented players across its roster. One, in particular, would have to be Sam Schofield, who recently accepted a scholarship offer to continue his baseball career at Georgia State University in Atlanta.

FOOTBALL: Bennett receives scholarship offer from UNC

In November, Gatewood football’s Evan Bennett received some great news via Twitter. It was a direct message from a football coach at the University of North Carolina inviting the junior running back and his family to visit Chapel Hill and attend a game on campus.
