Duo of Narduzzi and Gailey wins 2023 Southern Company Peach Bowl Challenge

Greensboro, Ga.  – The team of Pat Narduzzi and Chan Gailey carded a rock-solid round, including birdies on holes 16 through 18, to win the 2023 Southern Company Peach Bowl Challenge and $32,500 each for their respective charities.

Late goal sends Lady Titans to soccer Final Four

After defeating Johnson County 2-0 at the beginning of last week, the Lake Oconee Academy Lady Titans had to travel up to the state’s capital to take on Atlanta Classical Academy in the Elite 8 of the GHSA Class A Division II state playoffs.

Diamond Dogs top Hornets to advance

After winning the region, the Morgan County baseball program hosted its first series as the area’s No. 1 seed in the GHSA Class 3A State Playoffs earlier this week. The Diamond Dogs faced the Savannah Country Day Hornets last Monday in a double-header that started at 5 p.m.

Titans secure area championship at Harbor Club

Lake Oconee Academy recently hosted its area’s GHSA Class A Division II golf tournament at Harbor Club at the beginning of last week and continued its dominance on the course.

Diamond Gators take Region 4-AA title

The Gatewood Gators officially became Region 2-AA baseball champs last week when Piedmont defeated Westminster Christian to end region play for the season. The Gators went 1-2 last week, losing to non-region opponents Class AAAA Bethlehem Christian Academy and Class AAA Stratford Academy.

PCHS boys’ soccer reaches Elite 8 in state playoffs

Putnam County High School boys’ soccer (15-0-2) continued its winning streak on April 14, with a 4-2 shootout victory at home against Toombs County that set up the War Eagles to face the Rutland Hurricanes last Thursday in the second round of state championship playoffs.

Region Track Champs: Gatewood boys run to region title, girls runner-up

The Gatewood Gators hosted the Region 4 AA track-and-field championships last Wednesday, and the boys brought home the season title while the girls were named runners-up to Brentwood following a valiant effort.

‘Playing with Love’: Lady Dogs defeat Long County, Jackson to advance to Elite Eight

The Morgan County girls soccer team is headed back to the Elite Eight for a second consecutive year. The No. 1 seed Lady Bulldogs (16-1-1) knocked off No. 4 seed Long County 5-0 last week before defeating No. 3 seed Jackson 7-1 Monday to advance to the next round of the Class AAA state playoffs.

Don’t know if you noticed that almost half the field at the Masters last week – at least 30 – were “foreigners.” That would include past champions such as Jose Maria Olazabal and Gary Player, as well as former Bulldog golfer Sepp Straka, a native of Austria.
