Events bring community, and law enforcement together
The flashing lights of ambulances and firetrucks and the county’s finest men and women in uniform were on hand at last week’s Faith and Blue community event at Grace Fellowship Church in Greensboro.
Sheriff Donnie Harrison worked with Georgia State Patrol to host the first event for the county, which was inaugurated in 2020 by the Office of community-oriented policing Services at the United States Department of Justice.
According to Harrison and event promoters, the idea centers on building strong ties with officers and residents to make communities and neighborhoods safer. Further, the ties that bind officers and residents need to be reinforced ti strengthen them. Faith-based organizations were found to be key in supporting these initiatives as they are both diverse and often the largest community resource in the nation.
Faith and Blue weekends are opportunities to bring in the community to meet great local law enforcement and public safety personnel. More than 750 local law enforcement partners have participated in these events.
