Traffic stop leads to drug and firearm arrests

Greensboro police officers located 63 individually packaged marijuana products and arrested two South Carolina men following a traffic stop on March 27.Jermaine Simmons, 19, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., has been charged with speeding and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Greensboro, with its quaint historic downtown, has seen six businesses close in the last six months. It signals a problem most small downtowns in the United States face in attracting — or, more importantly, maintaining — occupancy in areas experiencing a decline in visitor traffic and sales.
