A 14-year-old student at Morgan County Middle School was arrested Aug. 3 and charged with terroristic threat and acts after claiming he had a gun in his bookbag.
According to a report obtained from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, MCMS Principal Marcus Wyatt said the student was in art class when he said, “Everyone is in danger, I have a gun.”
His next comment referred to a deadly shooting that happened in September of 2024.
“I’m going to turn this into Apalachee,” he allegedly said.
Colt Gray was sentenced to life without parole for malice murder July 28 for shooting two students, two teachers and wounding nine others at Apalachee High School.
A search of the student’s book bag revealed no weapon.
“I’ve said this many times before, and I’ll say it again: threats of school violence are not negotiable,” Morgan County Sheriff Tyler Hooks said.“Every threat will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.
“We have seen the devastating consequences when warning signs are ignored, and we will not take that chance with the safety of our students, teachers, or staff.”
