The Meat Locker officially arrives in Putnam County

Though operating for more than a month now, The Meat Locker held its official ribbon cutting last Friday, jointly hosted by the Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce and its Baldwin-based counterpart.

Madison teen leads deputies on high-speed chase

A Madison teenager fled from pursuing deputies at speeds of more than 130 miles per hour on April 11 before his attempt to elude the law ended in a ditch.Marcus Daniel Lee, 18, now faces a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and reckless driving.

According to a report from the Appling County Sheriff’s Department, former Morgan County standout athlete Quintavious Williams passed away April 5 after allegedly being struck by a tree and was found unresponsive.Williams was 24 years old, and according to an obituary on Legacy.

Voting fraud charge lands man in jail

An Eatonton man is in jail facing voter fraud charges, according to authorities.Quirino Voncell Boles, 44, of Hudson Drive, was arrested and held in Putnam County jail on Feb. 27 on the charges of false swearing, voting by an unqualified elector or giving false information, and probation violation.

Public outcry shuts down zoning request

The Greene County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to halt the expansion of Lake Oconee Estates & Beach Club.In 2024, the BOC approved a zoning request from A1 to PUD for a 264-acre property near Veazey Connector, allowing the creation of 365 lots for the development.
