Oconee Brewing Company owners publicized on Facebook Tuesday that the brewery will be going “dormant.”
Company owners announced that the building, which had been home to the brewery for 7.5 years, has been sold. Ameris Bank foreclosed on the Greensboro property earlier this year due to more than $1.1 million in outstanding loan debt.
According to OBC owners, the new building’s owners are taking the property in a “different direction” — one that does not include the brewery.
“It’s hard to put into words what these years have meant to us,” the owners said. “What started as a dream to create great beer became something far bigger — a place where families gathered, friends celebrated, stories were shared, and a community was built. We’ve had the honor of watching this space become more than just a production facility; it has become a home for laughter, music, weddings, birthdays, local artists, live bands, festivals, charity events, and countless toasts shared over pints.
“We are forever proud of the space we created — but even more proud of the community that filled it with life,” continued the Facebook post. “Without your support, your stories, and your love for what we poured (both into the glass and into the space), none of this would have been possible.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for gathering with us. Thank you for making Oconee Brewing Company not just a brewery, but a part of your lives. Though this chapter is ending, we carry all the memories and gratitude with us — and who knows what the future may hold?”
