Madison City Council rejects industrial development

To the surprise of very few, the Madison City Council rejected a zoning map amendment that would have paved the way for a Planned Industrial Development (PID) on 178 acres of property near the intersection of Monticello Highway and Lions Club Road, which is currently zoned I-2.

PWC accident claims life of Ellenwood man

An Ellenwood man lost his life while out on Lake Sinclair enjoying the July Fourth holiday.Christopher Grant Jr., 30, died from accidental drowning when he fell off the personal watercraft (PWC) he was riding.

Girl dies after being trapped under boat

A fun holiday on the lake with friends, family, and fireworks was literally turned upside down and left a mother grieving the loss of her young child.Four-year-old Tilly Roache, of Lithonia, died from delayed complications due to drowning, said Putnam County Coroner Hollis Harrison.

Residents celebrate annual Lake Oconee boat parade

The Fourth of July boat parade at Lake Oconee has become a tradition in Morgan County. Participants celebrated their sixth anniversary last Friday, with over a dozen boats participating. Each vessel was decorated in red, white, and blue, which is what makes the event special.

Pontoon capsizes on Lake Oconee; 4-year-old flown to hospital

A 4-year-old girl is in the pediatric intensive care unit at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta following a boating accident on Lake Oconee on July 4th. “It’s a miracle that baby is alive,” Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said Saturday at about 2:30 p.m.
