An Athens teenager faces numerous charges after fleeing from a traffic stop conducted by a Greene County deputy on Nov. 11.
Vraille Amon Hudson, 18, of Athens, is being charged with carrying a concealed weapon, obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers, and tampering with evidence. He was also cited for a window tint violation, the offense that got him stopped in the first place.
According to reports, Deputy Josh Corwin stopped Hudson at the abandoned parking lot next to the Union Point Fire Department for what he believed was a window tint violation, and he also smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.
When Corwin asked Hudson about the odor, Hudson said he had only had one marijuana cigarette and handed it to the deputy.
Corwin told Hudson to exit the vehicle, so he could conduct a probable cause search, but Hudson said he didn’t want to get out. Hudson told Corwin he had given him all the marijuana he had and rolled up his window. Corwin called for backup and told Hudson to exit the vehicle again. Hudson initially refused but eventually got out, only to flee. Hudson ran behind an abandoned building, and Corwin gave chase.
Corwin drew his department-issued taser and gave Hudson orders to stop and get on his knees.
Hudson complied and was taken into custody.
Sgt. Jordan Knowles arrived on scene and conducted a search of the path Hudson took during the foot pursuit.
Knowles found a loaded Glock 19 Gen4m and a spare magazine. Corwin found a small bag of pre-packaged marijuana in a book bag on the front passenger seat, along with a scale and multiple empty bags.
Hudson was taken to the Greene County jail, and his vehicle was towed to an impound lot.
