BOC lengthens rezoning moratorium near Stanton Springs

During last week’s meeting, the Morgan County Board of Commissioners decided to unanimously approve an extension of a moratorium that would prohibit all rezoning requests around a five-mile radius of Stanton Springs North.

Botched drink machine robbery leads to arrest, warrants

A group of men tried unsuccessfully to make a withdrawal from a drink machine at the Quality Inn behind the Cracker Barrel on Eatonton Road on May 2. One was arrested, and warrants have been issued for the other. Michael Lee Gore, 40, of Covington was charged with criminal trespassing.

MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE Monae Taylor, 33, of Madison was arrested May 4 and charged with battery under the family violence statute. A Morgan County deputy was sent to a Turner Road address regarding a stolen vehicle on May 4.

Teachers of the Year

At the Morgan County Charter School System (MCCSS) Board of Education meeting held May 9, the Morgan County 2022 retirees, Teachers of the Year and Support Persons of the Year were recognized by the board and respective principals of each school.

Development authority gets school boards to talk – a little bit

At 8 a.m. Tuesday, the conference room at the Greene County administrative building was unusually full.

Dr. Meigan Miller Family Dentistry is welcoming a new dentist Dr. Robert Johnson, to the team.

Resident addresses city regarding increased water, sewer

A Greene County resident of 47 years addressed the Greensboro City Council with his concerns for the increased water and sewage uses with the projected increase of new homes to the county will have with the completion of the Meadow Hill project by Home Depot.
