ICE conducts operation in Morgan County

Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) aren’t just detaining and deporting individuals from border towns and big cities.Recently, the agency was involved in a case in Morgan County.

Morgan County has a navy.After seven years without a boat, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office has acquired a vessel to patrol the 89 miles of shoreline it has on Lake Oconee and the Apalachee River.

Morgan County, GBI investigating death of infant

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a six-day-old infant, according to a statement issued by Sheriff Tyler Hooks.“I am saddened to confirm the tragic death of a six-day-old infant at 1271 Blue Springs Dr.,” Hooks said.

There’s a new sheriff in town.Republican Tyler Hooks will be the next Morgan County sheriff following a significant victory over Democrat Derrick Reid Tuesday.Hooks won with 71.1 percent of the vote (9,293) to Reid’s 28.90 percent (3,778).
