Lady Tigers fall in the first round of region tourney

The Greene County girls basketball season came to a close under tough circumstances, but for head coach Steven Hopper, the bigger picture showed signs of real progress for a program built almost entirely on youth.

Lady Tigers get first W of season on Senior Night

The Greene County girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season on Feb. 3, edging Wilkinson County 53-51 at home.With the victory, the Lady Tigers are now 1-16 overall and will close the regular season on Feb. 6 with a road game at Lake Oconee Academy.

Lady Tigers experience growing pains

The Greene County girls basketball team has endured its share of growing pains this season, but head coach Steven Hopper believes his team is trending in the right direction as the region tournament approaches.The Lady Tigers have leaned heavily on youth.

Greene girls look to build chemistry

The Greene County Lady Tigers began this season with one goal in mind: to build more team chemistry.It’s the one thing head coach Steven Hopper wants to see more of as the season goes on.

Greene boys, girls earn All-Region recognition

Greene County’s basketball teams had several players named to the All-Region team following the 2024-25 season.The Tigers dominated the All-Region honors, as head coach Mark Wright and six players garnered postseason accomplishments.

Future is bright for Lady Tigers

The Greene County Lady Tigers discovered a great deal about themselves during a rollercoaster season.On Feb. 18, they lost to Turner County 74-54 in the first round of the Class A Division II state tournament.

Lady Tigers top Towns, clinch playoff berth

In a must-win game, the Greene County girls basketball team defeated Towns County on Tuesday night.The Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Indians 54-41 in the first round of the region tournament, earning them a spot in the semifinals.

Greene girls weather storm against Lady ‘Canes

Greene County girls basketball got a much-needed win last week against Class 3A’s Monroe Area.The Lady Tigers snapped a long losing streak by defeating the Lady Hurricanes 60-45 on Feb. 1.With the win, Greene County improved to 4-14 overall. The non-region win was big for the Lady Tigers.

Lady Tigers looking to overcome adversity

Greene County girls basketball is looking to overcome some of the adversity it faced earlier in the season.The Lady Tigers head into this weekend’s games with a 3-11 record and a 1-4 mark in region play.
