Greene girls fall in second round to Taylor County

Four quarters weren’t enough for Greene County and Taylor County in last Friday’s second-round playoff tilt.The two teams were tied at the end of regulation.

Greene County girls, boys sweep Washington-Wilkes to advance to state

Both of Greene County’s basketball teams competed against Washington-Wilkes Tuesday, Feb. 13 during the second round of the region tournament. The Tigers and Lady Tigers each topped their opponents and qualified for the Class A Division II state playoffs, which starts next week.

Lady Tigers top No. 7 Towns County

Greene County girls’ basketball defeated No. 7 Towns County 67-55 on Tuesday, Jan. 16, in an upset. The Lady Tigers used a total team effort to take down the ranked Lady Indians last week. Greene County head coach Steven Hopper was impressed by his team’s performance that night.

Lady Tigers stun Titans in thriller

Greene County got its first win over Lake Oconee Academy since the 2017-18 season last Saturday. The Lady Tigers stunned the Lady Titans, defeating them 45-42 in a low-scoring thriller. Greene County head coach Steven Hopper knew the girls could pull off the win and was happy after the game.

Lady Tigers finding footing after ‘tumultuous’ start

Greene County girls’ basketball has made strides and found its footing after a rough start to the year. The Lady Tigers started the season with an 0-6 record, but have won four of their last five games.

Hopper promoted to Lady Tigers’ head coach

The Greene County girls basketball program is coming off its first winning season since 2013-14, and they look to continue to build off that success with newly hired head coach Steven Hopper. Hopper takes over the position with multiple years of coaching experience in a variety of different sports.
