Tigers more comfortable under Banks in year two

The Greene County football program has stayed active this offseason in preparation for the 2023 football season, both on and off the field.

Defenses clash in Tigers’ scrimmage against Putnam County

The Greene County football team traveled to Al Reaves Field last Friday to take on Putnam County in the Tigers’ fall scrimmage. Both teams played their starters in the first half and gave the rest of their depth charts experience in the second half.

Tigers heating up on recruiting trail

Last season, a lot of Greene County football players helped the team make the state playoffs for the first time since 2018, and some of them are starting to get recognized by college coaches for their talents.

FOOTBALL: Lions spoil Tigers' plans for playoff run

It was a rough night at Tiger Stadium for Greene County and head coach Terrance Banks. No. 3-seed Christian Heritage defeated the No. 2-seed Tigers 37-6 last Friday night. The loss eliminates them from contention in the Class A Division II playoffs.

FOOTBALL: Tigers come up a foot short against Fighting Irish

It was a battle all the way to the final seconds during last Friday’s football game between Greene County (5-4, 2-2) and Aquinas High School (6-3, 2-2), but the Fighting Irish were able to outlast a late push by the Tigers and come away with a victory.

FOOTBALL: Tigers drop first region game of the season

After winning two in a row, the Greene County football team met its match last week. The Tigers (5-3, 2-1) lost to the Lincoln County Red Devils 31-21 in the team’s third region game of the season, but it wasn’t because of a lack of effort.

FOOTBALL: Tigers prepare for Red Devils after bye week

After coming off a dominant 42-12 win over the Warren County Screaming Eagles a couple weeks ago, the Greene County football team turned its attention to the Lincoln County Red Devils for its third region game of the season.

The Greene County football team came out on top against the Towns County Indians 23-6 in Hiawassee last Thursday night, getting moved from Friday night due to inclement weather.

FOOTBALL: Patriots ride high after fourth-quarter comeback victory over Greene County

Greene County head coach Terrance Banks left Tigers Stadium on Friday with a gut-wrenching feeling. Oglethorpe County (3-1) trailed by 12 points at the start of the fourth quarter, although the Patriots quickly erased that margin, defeating the Tigers (3-2) by a score of 34-33.
