A $5,000 fine was levied against Piedmont Water, the major water and sewer utility company in Greene County, by the Environmental Protection Division (EPD) following an investigation into a major raw sewage spill that occurred in late February this year.

As of Tuesday, Piedmont Water was telling customers in the Reynolds Water System that they expected repairs to the new water treatment system to be completed in one to three days.

The Georgia PGA Senior Division’s Tour Championship, sponsored by Jennifer Vaughan with Ansley Real Estate Christie’s International, took place Oct. 10-11, at Reynolds Lake in Greensboro. The two-day tournament was played on the Oconee Course and Great Waters.

Canadian rockers Barenaked Ladies will headline the 5th annual Rhythm & Brews Festival Oct. 22, at Reynolds Lake Oconee’s historic Sandy Creek Barn Amphitheatre. Over the course of a 34-year career, the Toronto-based quartet has sold more than 15-million records worldwide, including hits 'If I Had a Million Dollars,' 'One Week,' 'Pinch Me,' and 'The Big Bang Theory Theme.' Along the way, the Barenaked Ladies also have hosted a cruise, had their own ice cream flavor, won eight Canadian Juno Awards (similar to Grammys), and were inducted in 2018 into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Last year, they released Detour de Force, their 16th studio album.

After years of taking heat from customers for the quality of drinking water it provides, the Piedmont Water Company was expected this week to start operating its new water treatment plant.

Piedmont Water’s 30-day test period is scheduled to conclude this week for its new $15 million water treatment plant serving the Reynolds Water System. The facility will pull and treat up to two million gallons of water each day from Lake Oconee.
